Award-winning food in Orford
We're so lucky to be located in a place which is regarded so highly when it comes to food and we want to take a moment to shout about some of the local producers and shops which you can make part of your trip to Orford.
Pump Street Bakery, Market Hill
Bakers and chocolate makers, each of their ventures have a shop as part of our Market Square. Not only has the bakery been awarded the King's Award for International Trade and their chocolate been recognised by the International Chocolate Awards and the Academy of Chocolate Awards, but something you may not be aware of, they were name dropped in an Oscar-winning speech by Director Mat Kirkby!
Orford Meat Shed, Baker's Lane
A quaint shop which is run by husband and wife Andrew and Diane Page. They have won the London and South East England Prestige Awards for five years running. Situated on Baker's Lane which is only accessible by footpath from either the Market Square or Broad Street.
Pinney's Smoked Fish Shop, Quay Street
The place to go for award-winning smoked fish. Pinney's is a third generation family-run business and, as Jamie Oliver put it so well, "has decades of experience in creating the perfect smoke."
They've also been featured as part of Rick Stein's Food Stories for their oysters which are grown on the coast at Butley Creek.

Orford General Store, Front Street
Not just a place for essentials and the post office (which is also very helpful), the general store has an array of fresh produce which you can see outside the front of the shop as well as a very well stocked cheese counter at fair prices.
Just down the road...
High House Farm, Sudbourne
Piers and Suvi Poole own this lovely, principled fruit farm. They supply us with our discovery breakfast apple juice and seasonal fruits, as well as the fantastic loganberry jam we serve at breakfast.
Leave the village, turn right at the crossroads and follow the signs for about 1.5 miles.
Snape Maltings
With various shops, galleries, cafés and a pub, this converted C19th maltings is a sight to be seen. And it's not just the food scene, run by Britten Pears Arts, Snape Maltings boasts an ever-popular concert hall which holds festivals and events throughout the year. What's more, there are also wonderful walks along the river to Iken.
