Please read on to keep up to date with some of the basic points around what you might need to know before visiting us.
Welcome, here at The Crown and Castle, we are looking forward to welcoming many of you over the coming months, and with the situation around Covid-19 continuously changing, I would like to update you on what you can expect on your next visit. Should you have any unanswered questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch, either by phone or using the contact form at the bottom of this page, and our friendly Folk will assist you further. On behalf of myself, David Scott, CEO of The Hotel Folk, and John Morrell, Hotel Manager of The Crown and Castle, we’d like to keep you, our loyal guests updated.
Whilst I’m sure many of you will have already had a booster vaccination, for those who have not, we still wish to ensure that every guest has a happy, and safe experience with us here in Orford. We understand that whilst the vaccine programme is accelerating, not everybody will have had the chance to get one, and so we ask that anybody who has not yet had a booster, please complete a negative lateral flow test before joining us. This is to protect the safety of both our Folk and fellow guests.
I would also like to inform you that I am actively encouraging our Folk to go and get the vaccine, with time off provided as necessary to attend appointments, and to recover from any post-vaccine sickness, should it be required. As with our guests, Folk who have not been able to get a booster vaccination, are also asked to complete a negative lateral flow test each day before coming in to work.
We have made the decision to re-introduce the requirement of face coverings when moving around The Crown and Castle. This is in order to protect the safety of both our Folk and our guests, however, face-coverings are not required to be worn whilst seated in our lounge, bar, and restaurant areas. We appreciate your understanding of this.
Whilst you may notice social distancing becoming less evident with a gradual reduction in the restaurant, bar, lounge, and around our hotel, we continue to ask guests to respect each other's space, and that of our Folk, especially in busier periods.
We are pleased to be returning to usual service in terms of placing your food and drinks orders. With the elimination of table service only, we are now able to allow guests to order at the bar if they wish.
Dining with us?
You are welcome to join us throughout the morning for coffee and light refreshments in the lounge.
Whilst we are not open for lunch service, Head Chef Jake Lawrence’s picnic hamper is available daily, please be aware that we require 24 hours’ notice to prepare the hamper as it’s all fresh produce. You can have a look at what’s included here. An exciting addition to The Crown and Castle comes in the form of our walking board that can be found in the car park area of our grounds. With so many fantastic walks in the area, we’ve compiled a selection of mapped routes to guide you, ranging from 45 minutes up to a mighty 7.5 hours, making the perfect partner for your picnic hamper! Find out more here.
Whilst we don’t offer lunch service throughout the week, we are pleased to say that Sunday is the exception! Served between 12pm and 2.30pm, be sure to book early to avoid disappointment, it’s very popular! You can find our current menu here.
Dinner service consists of two sittings at 6.15pm and 8.15pm. Again, we recommend booking early, with our hotel being busy, this mirrors similarly in the restaurant.
We are pleased to now be able to welcome up to 10 guests again for sole use of our lovely private dining room, The Parlour. Our folk are on hand to help you arrange your special celebration in this intimate room located next to the bar. You can get in touch over the phone or by emailing email@example.com to begin planning your special occasion…
Track and Trace
The NHS Track and Trace QR code will still be available for all guests to scan should you wish to, but again, this will no longer be a requirement.
Staying with us?
You are welcome to check in anytime from 3pm on your arrival date, and check out by 11am on your day of departure. Our housekeeping Folk have returned to usual service with regards to mid-stay cleans. If you would prefer not to have your room cleaned throughout your stay with us, please be sure to inform our Reception Folk upon arrival, and make use of the 'do not disturb' sign in your bedroom. We always have an array of fresh, fluffy towels and toiletries to hand at reception, should you need these replenishing, please don’t hesitate to ask.
We are always more than happy to assist with your luggage, just let our Reception Folk know and they will arrange this for you.
In the public areas of the hotel, you’ll notice our housekeeping Folk are always on hand to ensure all popular touch-points are regularly sanitised. You can also find sanitiser stations around the hotel. Your safety and our high standards of cleanliness remain of utmost importance to us.
If you are staying the night with us, you will be asked a preferred time for breakfast in order for us to still maintain a sensible number of guests in our restaurant at once. You are of course welcome to enjoy breakfast in the comfort of your bedroom with room service.
A final note…
I do hope this information has put your mind at ease and given you some reassurance as to the steps we are taking to make sure your return is a safe one. Leaving you to enjoy the excitement of booking a trip away from home.
We have been extremely busy taking bedroom reservations, which does mean that if you haven’t already booked, we recommend doing so sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment! You can check our current rates via our website, or you can call our Folk on 01394 450205.
