No, we haven’t sneakily remodelled the Crown and Castle. This is the Red House in Aldeburgh where Benjamin Britten lived and composed. The Aldeburgh Music Festival plays to packed houses from 8th – 24th June, but even if you are left unmoved by Bach, Bernstein and Britten, the house is still a fascinating place to visit.
Our June 2-night offer provides FREE entrance to the Red House, together with:
* a complimentary jug of Pimms on one afternoon of your stay*
* 2 nights comfortable accommodation
* a 2-course a la carte free-choice dinner on both evenings (with a reasonable prospect of lobster or crab being on the menu in some form or another)
* full English breakfast on both mornings
The June offer runs from Monday, 28th May up to and including Thursday, 28th June but excludes Fridays and Saturdays.
The rates for the Great Britten 2-night stay, per room occupied by two people, are:
Good House 440
Better House, Garden and Courtyard 520
Best House and Terrace 620
“The local wine, a dinner at your friend’s house, and music performed by amateurs are three things to be equally dreaded.” Grimod de la Reynière (1758-1838)
The Red House is open from 1 -5pm Tuesday to Saturday but during the Aldeburgh Music Festival (8th – 24th June) it is open daily from 11 – 4pm.
*Pimms can be served between 2.30- 5.30pm any afternoon of your stay or can be replaced by another drink to the same value.
