Our maximum table size is 10 and parties of this size are always given our lovely private dining room, the Parlour. The restriction of numbers is partly so other diners don’t suffer from the aural and temporal impact of a large party, and because 10 is the maximum amount of chairs that we can fit around the table in the Parlour. No amount of pleading will change this fact! (We can only take larger parties in the restaurant when we are quiet as tables are needed for our resident guests and then the maximum is eight guests.)
Lunch: we do not take bookings for our smart pub lunch from Monday to Saturday (except for parties of 5 or more). On Sundays we do take bookings for lunch – indeed, we advise it. Please mention if there are any (real) vegetarians or vegans in your party so we can offer some nice options.
Dinner: bookings are always recommended for dinner, except perhaps midweek in the depths of winter. Certainly Saturday nights get booked up well in advance, as do all high days and holidays. The a la carte menu changes daily (perhaps ‘evolves’ would be a better description) and although dishes are priced individually, anyone on a dinner, bed and breakfast package is offered a free choice – there are no supplements applied.
Dinner, bed and breakfast: at the weekend (i.e. Friday and Saturday nights) dinner, bed and breakfast rate includes a choice of three courses from our normal a la carte and full English breakfast. Midweek one-night dinner, bed and breakfast bookings at standard rate also include a choice of three courses from our normal a la carte and full English breakfast.
Discounted (i.e. offer) packages include a two-course a la carte dinner, with free choice of dishes, and full English breakfast. A third course is charged at a standard £7.50.
