Please be aware that reservation times are always ARRIVAL times – not when the first forkful of food goes in! Our doors open to non-resident guests at 12.15pm for lunch and at 6.30pm for dinner. We do not serve morning coffee or afternoon tea, being a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel.
Monday to Saturday lunchtime: we open at 12.15pm for an informal lunch. Last orders are at 2.00pm. Please be aware that we cannot take bookings for the outside terrace but you are welcome to book the restaurant itself and take pot luck on good weather and tables being free outside when you arrive.
For parties of 5 or more we require a £20 per head deposit. This is non-returnable unless we have 48 hours notice of cancellation, or any drop in numbers, but otherwise is credited against your final bill.
Sunday lunch: We serve a more formal lunch – with award-winning roast beef – for which bookings are advised. The main course price also purchases either a starter or dessert. First bookings are 12.15 and last bookings are 2.00pm. Sunday lunch is only served inside.
Dinner: we open at 6.30pm for an a la carte dinner with the latest arrival time at 9.00pm. Bookings are always recommended for dinner, especially on Saturday nights and high days and holidays. The a la carte menu changes daily (perhaps ‘evolves’ would be a better description). Dinner is only served inside.
