Please be aware that reservation times are always ARRIVAL times – not when the first forkful of food goes in! Our doors open to non-resident guests at 12.15pm for lunch and at 6.30pm for dinner. We do not serve morning coffee or afternoon tea, being a restaurant with rooms rather than a hotel.
Our maximum table size is 10 and parties of this size are always given our lovely private dining room, the Parlour. The restriction of numbers is partly so other diners don’t suffer from the aural and temporal impact of a large party, and because 10 is the maximum amount of chairs that we can fit around the table in the Parlour. No amount of pleading will change this fact! (We can only take larger parties in the restaurant when we are quiet as tables are needed for our resident guests and then the maximum is eight guests.)
Casual lunch: from Monday to Saturday we open at 12.15pm for a non-bookable*, casual lunch with latest arrival at 2.15pm from April to September. *Except for parties of 5 or more when a non-returnable deposit of £20 is required.
Sunday lunch: We serve a more formal lunch – with award-winning roast beef – for which bookings are advised. The main course price also purchases either a starter or dessert. First bookings are 12.15 and last bookings are 2.15pm.
Dinner: we open at 6.30pm for an a la carte dinner with the latest arrival time at 9.00pm. Bookings are always recommended for dinner, especially on Saturday nights and high days and holidays. The a la carte menu changes daily (perhaps ‘evolves’ would be a better description).
